Frequently asked questions

Answers before you switch.

What firms ask us most often about pricing, security, data ownership, billing, onboarding, integrations, and refunds.

Pricing

What it costs to run your firm on AnoLawg, what's included, and what's free.

How much does AnoLawg cost?
CRM seats are $20 per user per month. That's your attorneys, paralegals, and billing staff — everyone who works inside the firm. Client portal access is free and unlimited: invite every client on every matter at no extra charge.
Are there tiers, upsells, or usage-based fees?
No. One flat seat price includes matters, time tracking, billing, calendar, documents, messaging, the client portal, and role-based permissions. We don't meter storage, API calls, or invoices.
What about the public profile and referral marketplace?
Non-CRM attorneys can claim a free public profile. An optional $5/month upgrade unlocks a photo, the Verified badge, direct contact display, and unsanitized referral routing. Expert witnesses can claim a free profile; a $15/month upgrade additionally lets them receive referrals from firms.
Is there a discount for annual billing?
Annual plans are on the roadmap. Until they launch, monthly billing keeps things simple and cancellable.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes — new firms get a trial period to run real matters through the system before we start billing. We collect a card in secure checkout so the account can continue automatically when the trial ends.

Security

How we keep your matter data, communications, and credentials protected.

How is my data protected in transit and at rest?
All traffic is TLS-encrypted end to end. Data at rest is encrypted in our managed PostgreSQL. Session cookies are httpOnly, SameSite, and scoped to your firm's session record.
Who inside my firm can see what?
AnoLawg is permission-first. Admins grant granular keys (view_billing, view_rates, manage_users, etc.) per user. Matters can be restricted to a specific list of team members. Clients only ever see matters assigned to them.
Does AnoLawg support MFA?
MFA for firm admins and webmaster accounts is on the security roadmap. SSO options (Google, Microsoft) are planned next.
How do you handle password storage?
Passwords are hashed with scrypt — a memory-hard KDF built into Node.js. We never log, ship, or display plaintext passwords.
What happens if a laptop is lost or stolen?
Revoke the user in Admin → Users → Deactivate. Their session is invalidated immediately and they can't sign back in without your intervention.

Data

Ownership, portability, retention, and where your records physically live.

Who owns the data we put into AnoLawg?
You do. Your firm is the sole owner of every matter, contact, time entry, document, and communication. We are the processor, not the owner.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Bulk CSV export for matters, contacts, time, expenses, and invoices is available. A full-firm archive export is on the roadmap for self-serve download.
Where is the data hosted?
AnoLawg runs on U.S.-region cloud infrastructure (Vercel compute, managed Postgres). Backups are geographically redundant inside the U.S.
How long do you retain deleted data?
Soft-deleted records are recoverable for 30 days. After that they're purged from primary storage; encrypted backups age out at 90 days.
Is AnoLawg multi-tenant? Can another firm ever see my matters?
Every table is firm-scoped on a mandatory firmId column. Every query filters by the signed-in user's firm. Cross-firm data access is architecturally impossible — not a permission check that could be bypassed.

Billing

How we charge your firm, when, and what happens when seats change.

How is my firm billed?
Monthly, via card on file. You're billed for the number of active CRM seats at the start of each billing period. Invoices are emailed to your billing contact and visible inside the admin portal.
What happens if I add or remove users mid-month?
Added seats are prorated to the end of the current billing period. Removed seats stop billing at the next period boundary — no refund for partial months, no penalty to deactivate.
Can I change the card on file?
Yes. Admins update the payment method under Settings → Billing. Changes take effect on the next invoice.
What if my payment fails?
We retry automatically for seven days and email your billing contact. If the card still fails, the firm moves to a read-only grace period, then suspends until resolved. No data is deleted during grace.
Do you send receipts for tax purposes?
Every successful charge generates a downloadable receipt stored in Settings → Billing → Invoices.

Onboarding

What it takes to move your firm onto AnoLawg and start billing real matters.

How long does onboarding take?
Most firms are live the same day. Creating the firm account, importing contacts, and configuring practice areas typically takes under an hour. Invoicing real matters starts as soon as you log your first time entry.
Can I import contacts and matters from my current system?
CSV import for contacts is available at launch. A one-time concierge migration from common systems (Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther) is planned.
Do you train my staff?
Self-serve onboarding videos and a short guided tour inside the app cover the golden path. Live training calls are available for paid firms during early access.
Can my clients use the portal immediately?
Yes. Invite a client from any matter — they receive an email, set a password, and see the matters assigned to them. No separate signup, no app to install.
What if I get stuck?
Email support from inside the app. Paid firms get priority response during business hours.

Integrations

Where AnoLawg connects to the rest of your stack — and where it doesn't (yet).

Does AnoLawg integrate with QuickBooks or other accounting tools?
CSV export of invoices and payments works with every accounting system today. Native QuickBooks Online sync is on the roadmap.
Can I connect email so outbound messages come from my firm domain?
SMTP-on-your-domain for outbound client communications is in progress. Inbound email routing for matter threads is planned.
What about calendar sync with Google or Outlook?
User-level two-way Google and Microsoft 365 calendar sync is a launch-blocking implementation item. Contact sync is not part of this work.
Is there an API?
A read-and-write REST API for core objects (matters, contacts, activities) is planned. Admins can request early access.
Do you integrate with e-signature or document assembly tools?
Not yet natively. Upload signed PDFs to the matter document library. Native DocuSign and Dropbox Sign integrations are on the roadmap.

Refunds

How cancellations, downgrades, and refund requests work.

Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription. Your firm stays read-only through the end of the paid period, then the account is frozen. No cancellation fees.
Do you refund unused time mid-month?
We bill monthly for simplicity, so we don't prorate refunds for mid-cycle cancellation. You retain full access to the end of the paid period.
What about the first month — do you have a money-back guarantee?
If something goes materially wrong in your first 30 days, email support and we'll work it out. We'd rather refund a frustrated firm than keep a customer who doesn't want to be one.
What happens to my data after I cancel?
Your account is frozen for 60 days with read-only admin access so you can export. After 60 days, data is purged from primary storage; encrypted backups age out at 90 days.
Can I re-activate a cancelled firm?
Yes, within the 60-day frozen window. Contact support and we'll restore the firm in place — no data re-entry required.
